Helene Hørlyck's voice is the sound of the beauty and melancholy.
Acoustic, simple, beautiful
On her new album, 'Christmas Songs', Helene Hørlyck sings about the mixture of emotions that accompany the Christmas season. The album's 12 songs, new com-positions as well as beloved classics, are performed with a presence that simply has to be experienced. Without grandiose arrangements, orchestras or brass sections, just with crisp, acoustic backgrounds, Helene's incomparable voice puts one in an intimate state of wonder with falling snowflakes and a light hint of warm cinnamon filling the air.
This year's Christmas hit
"Det December", is a fantastic new song, co-written by Hørlyck, that is a Danish Christmas classic in waiting. Light and melodious, with a hint of longing and a solid, catchy chorus, the track brings to mind some of the great Christmas songs of recent decades. "Det December" is the result of a collaboration with songwriter Marcus Winther-John and producer Søren Mikkelsen. The same trio is behind another, beautiful new track on ‘Christmas Songs’ - "Sneblind".
Get ready to hum along
'Chrismas Songs' also offers a veritable fireworks display of reimagined classics: "I'll Be Home For Christmas", "Winter Song", "The First Noel", "What Child Is This", "Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas" , "Wintersong", "O Santa Notte", "En Rose Så Jeg Skyde", "Nu Tändes Tusind Julelys" - and last but not least - one of the greatest Christmas classics ever: Wham's "Last Christmas", which gets new life in Helen's acoustic version.
It takes courage to try your hand at some of the most popular pieces of music in world history, but Helene Hørlyck has what it takes. With a Danish background, an impressive international career under her belt, exceptional talent and her completely enchanting voice, she lifts both Danish and English language evergreens right up to the stars.
